Sips & Tips – Beware the Wines of March

A bottle of wine, begs to be shared” Clifton Fadiman

Besides the Ides of March, that didn’t turn out so good for Caeser, there is St. Patrick’s Day, International Women’s Day (3/8), the beginning of Daylight Savings time (3/10), the Vernal Equinox (3/19) and the last two Sundays are Palm Sunday and Easter for those who celebrate them. But did you know that 3/3 is National Mulled Wine Day and 3/13 is International Riesling Day.

Team Wine is making a slight adjustment in that we will be sampling a white, and a red each month, that we feel are appropriate for that month. For instance, this month we have a bright crisp Italian white and a fuller bodied red from Paso Robles, California. We selected the red as we may still have some cooler days ahead and hearty stew nights call for a sturdy red. This one will do the trick. The white was bright like a ray of sunshine, and tart like a crisp March morning knowing that more sun and warmer weather are ahead. Interestingly, each of these two wineries were awarded 2022 Winery of the Year in their respective country. We enjoyed both of these, and we hope you will as well.
