Bell Tower Theater Announces Kids Take the Stage Youth Theater Classes for Winter 2024

The Bell Tower Theater is excited to announce that their award-winning program Kids Take the Stage Youth Theater Classes will be continuing this winter. Kids from Kindergarten to sixth grade can immerse themselves in the world of music and theater in these weekly classes.

Bell Tower Theater Artistic Associate Michelle Blanchard will teach 4 different classes. Under her guidance, kids at all skill levels will learn and have fun.

Let’s Pretend for Kindergarten & 1st Grade

Mondays from 4 pm to 5 pm or 5:15 pm to 6:15 pm, January 29 to March 4, 2024

Take a trip to the world of make believe. This enchanting class uses kids’ imagination and self-expression to build concentration, confidence, and communication skills. The goal is to have fun discovering the world of theater! Space is limited to 16 kids per class. Teacher: Michelle Blanchard. Cost: $75

Creative Theatrics for 2nd & 3rd Grades

Wednesdays from 4 to 5 pm or 5:15 to 6:15 pm, January 31 to March 6, 2024

Let’s hit the stage. This class uses beginning acting techniques and cultivates skills that help kids to be confident and comfortable on-stage using stories and short plays as a foundation. Each day we will focus on creating believable characters using props, costumes, pantomime, and dialogue. Space is limited to 16 kids per class. Teacher: Michelle Blanchard. Cost: $75

Acting for 4th, 5th & 6th Grades

Thursdays from 4 to 5 pm or 5:15 to 6:15 pm, February 1 to March 7, 2024

Get into the act. This class focuses on acting skills and how to create believable characters. Kids will explore improvisation, stage movement and pantomime. We will use skits and short plays to work on mastering the skills needed in acting on stage. Space is limited to 16 kids per class. Teacher: Michelle Blanchard. Cost: $75

Fractured Fairytales for 4th, 5th & 6th grades

Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6 pm, January 30 to March 5, 2024

Have you ever thought fairy tales seemed a bit unrealistic? Can you really want to marry someone ten minutes after you meet them? Do frogs really turn into princes? Does a kiss bring you out of a curse induced coma? If you have doubts about any of these things, this is the class for you, We will take popular fairy tales and rewrite them to suit a more modern world. Once written, we will stage them and present them to the public. Space is limited to 12 kids. Teachers: Michelle Blanchard & Don Brauhn. Cost $95

Classes are held in the classroom and on the stage at the Bell Tower Theater, 2728 Asbury Road in Dubuque’s West End. Financial assistance scholarships are available for qualified families.
