Sips & Tips – Wines for the Holiday Season

The Best Wines are those We Enjoy with Friends!

Happy Holidays to you all. Thank you to those who read this column and then go and purchase a bottle or two from our local wine and liquor shops. Shopping locally is good for our economy and drinking wine, is good for you; so, everybody wins!

TeamWine gathered to sample wines for this month’s article. It was a challenging decision regarding which wines to select for December, as we don’t know what people eat for the holiday meal. We picked a couple of different wines, but we also offer ideas as to how the wines might best be paired. You may like our thoughts, or think were crazy, but that is one of the beauties of wine, you can enjoy it with whatever you like….and that’s ok!

Sips We began with a bottle of The Hermit Crab, a white wine from the d’Arenberg winery in McLaren Vale in Australia. This wine was purchased at EJ’s Wine Shop (14% abv-$18). It is a blend of 65% Viognier and 35% Marsanne grapes. South Australia has several unique regions with well-known wineries and ancient vines.
