SINSINAWA MOUND CENTER
Sinsinawa.org/moundcenter

Sinsinawa Mound remains closed to the public for an indefinite period of time for all concerts, meetings, and tours. Many retreats, workshops, and prayer services have been either moved to a virtual venue or will be sponsored on site for small groups in a designated area of the building with social distancing and mask requirements in place. View a list of upcoming events at Sinsinawa.org/moundcenter.

A Council of All Beings: Part Two – Wednesday, Dec. 2 @ 7 PM-8:15 PM
(To sign up for this event you must have attended part one on Nov. 18.) Those who choose to participate in the virtual Council of All Beings enter the experience to personally deepen the teachings offered in part one, “Buddhist Teaching for Deep Ecology.” This ritual invites you to step beyond your human self and assume the identity of another member of the Earth Community. Paula Hirschboeck, a Soto Zen Buddhist teacher and priest from Madison, WI, will facilitate.

Grief Retreat: Journey toward Wholeness – Saturday, Dec. 5 @ 9 AM-4 PM
Throughout our life, we experience the loss of people, places, and things. We will take time to reflect our losses and to discover how loss can lead to greater wholeness and holiness. This will be on site with all precautionary coronavirus practices in place.

Remembering Our Loved Ones at Holiday Time – Sunday, Dec. 6 @ 1:30 PM-2:30 PM
Participants can view this ecumenical service live on the Internet. Family and friends who have died will be memorialized with a personalized ornament on a tree. To order an ornament, contact Janice DeMuth in Guest Services at (608) 748-4411, ext. 811, by Nov. 25. It will be sent to you after the service.

The Healing Power of Music: Making Connections in Difficult Times – Wednesday, Dec. 9 @ 7 PM-8 PM
Has a piece of music ever transported you to another time or place? Has music been a refuge or a source of fun, celebration, and community? Music has the power to lift and soothe the soul and gives courage in the face of difficult times. Facilitator Suzanne Holtz is the music therapist at Hospice of Dubuque and has a passion for helping people find their voice and tell their stories using music. Join her via Zoom.

Pause: A Season to Breathe – Saturday, Dec. 12 @ 10 AM-12 PM
Like the seasons of Earth that shift and change in nature, our lives of faith are also cyclical and invite us to pause, breathe into, and appreciate the season. This is the second of our four-session virtual micro-retreat that invites participants to be attentive, compassionate, pause, and appreciate each faith-based season as it mirrors the natural changing cycle of seasons. Session 2 is titled Season of Waiting. Future sessions are Feb. 27 and April 10. Sister Stella DeVenuta, OSF, will lead these micro-retreats.

Into the Darkness: Winter Solstice – Monday, Dec. 21 @ 7 PM-8 PM
Join us to honor the longest and shortest day of the year. We’ll share reflections, poetry, and song for this special night. This online event will be facilitated by Eric Anglada.
