Grand River Medical Group – Tri-State Dialysis, a leading provider in kidney care and dialysis services will soon expand its footprint further into Wisconsin. Yesterday, the group celebrated their new location with a groundbreaking ceremony at the new site. Joining them for this ceremony was representatives from the City of Richland Center and Center Pharmacy, who will be opening a new pharmacy location in the building. The new dialysis unit and nephrology clinic is set to open in Spring 2021 and will help to meet the needs of local and neighboring community patients by providing a local choice in dialysis services closer to home.
The new unit which will be located at 190 North Orange St. expects to provide hemodialysis services to 20 patients after its opening in Spring of 2021 with room for growth. Hemodialysis is a process that removes blood from your body, by sending it through a machine to remove waste and returning the blood back to you. This is a normal function of the kidneys. The new location will also provide kidney care and consults by our board-certified nephrologist Dr. John Whalen, Dr. David Ringold, and Dr. Andrew Bland and other dialysis services such as home dialysis (home hemodialysis/peritoneal), which allows patients to receive their dialysis care from the comfort of their own home.
Patient who are on hemodialysis need to come in for treatment three times a week for 3-4 hours each treatment. With the closing of a previous Richland Center dialysis unit in July 2019 the physicians of Grand River Medical Group knew an organization needed to do something to allow these patients to receive their dialysis services closer to home. Currently patients in Richland Center and neighboring communities travel over 1-1.5 hours for their dialysis treatment and care.
The new unit will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:00 AM-6:00 PM. In addition to the new dialysis unit the property will also house Center Pharmacy, bringing pharmacy needs to the community.
Grand River Medical Group Tri-State Dialysis also serves patients in Platteville, WI, Dubuque, and Manchester, IA.
