Find inspiration for plein air painting on the beautiful grounds of Sinsinawa Mound on Sunday, August 30 from 9 AM to 4 PM with an artist reception and community viewing event from 4 to 6 PM. This outdoor educational activity is open to experienced and novice painters of all ages and abilities eager to spend the day creating art in a relaxed, supportive environment. Painting supplies will be provided for those who need them. Experienced artists are welcome to bring and use their own supplies and easels. Thanks to the generous support of Edgewood University, nine French easels will be available for participant use on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional painting boards will also be available. Participants may paint independently throughout the grounds or remain in designated areas for instruction and guidance. Throughout the day, plein air painter and educator Robert Tarrell will circulate around the grounds to assist anyone seeking help with composition, technique, or painting outdoors. Lunch and food trucks will be available on site. Register online at Sinsinawa.org/moundcenter in the events section or call 608-806-6087.
The public is welcome to visit the grounds throughout the day to observe artists at work and attend the evening reception. Those interested in sponsoring an artist can contact Sinsinawa Mound Outreach Promoter Chelsea Middendorf at cmiddendorf@sinsinawa.org.
