Bell Tower Theater Holds Auditions and Crew Sign-Up 11th Annual High School Show

The Bell Tower Theater is pleased to announce auditions for its 11th-annual high school show the Tony Award—winning Urinetown on Friday, March 1 from 3 pm to 6 pm; Saturday, March 2 from 11 am to 2 pm; and Tuesday, March 5 (call-backs, by invitation only) from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Bell Tower Theater, 2728 Asbury Road in Dubuque. The show will be directed by Bell Tower Theater Artistic Associate Michelle Blanchard.

This Tony Award-Winning musical pokes fun at capitalism, bureaucracy and musical theater itself! After a severe water shortage leads to a ban on private toilets, an evil corporation monopolizes all the public amenities. Tired of being charged admission for humanity’s basic needs, a hero rises to overthrow the tyrannical movement. Filled with witty humor, fast-paced action, and a star-crossed love story, Urinetown is sure to keep you laughing.

The Bell Tower Theater is seeking performers and crew members who are in 8th through 12th grades during the 2023-2024 school year. The cast will be 13 to 25 people, and the crew will be 7-12 people. Those auditioning or interested in signing up for crews should come to the Bell Tower Theater on either March 1 or March 2 during the designated times. It is not necessary to make an appointment.

Part of the Bell Tower Theater’s Free Summer Musical Program, Urinetown does not charge a participation fee. The program is free of charge to all kids. Rehearsals will be held April 2 through June 20, weekday evenings with some Sunday afternoons or evenings. The performances will be June 21 to 30. Full rehearsal and performance schedules are available on the website. For further information please contact the Bell Tower Theater at 563-588-3377 or visit BellTowerTheater.net.
