Pumpkins are a quintessential part of North American heritage, from jack-o’-lanterns at Halloween or autumn decor to pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving. Outside of the sugary, less healthy version known as pumpkin pie, modern Americans do not eat a lot of pumpkin, even though it has its origins here in North America.
