Sinsinawa Mound to Host Free Presentation on Power of Redemption

Joe Potosi

Sinsinawa Mound Center welcomes Joe Potosi on Wednesday, November 11 at 6 PM for his presentation “Your Condition Does Not Have to Be Your Conclusion.” This simple yet powerful message of hope will be explored through stories of his personal journey, where confronting the past, taking responsibility for life, doing the hard work of healing, learning to forgive, and leaning on faith changed the direction of his life.

Potosi is author of two books. In When the Dust Settled: Between a Rock and a Hard Place, he details a childhood marked by abandonment, abuse, and neglect. Childhood was not the end of his story. In Unshackled: A Story of Redemption and Renewal, he covers his transition to adulthood and time in the Navy, exploring the struggles, choices, and consequences of carrying childhood wounds into adult life. Potosi reflected, “For years, I tried to outrun my past, battling shame, fear, and addiction before realizing that running from what happened would never set me free.” In discovering what happens to us does not have to determine who we become, attendees will explore how childhood wounds can shape choices and relationships and how unaddressed pain can affect the lives of those around us.

Following the presentation, representatives from National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) will join us for a Q&A session. This will be an opportunity to ask questions, learn more about mental health, explore available support and resources, and continue the conversation about healing, recovery, and supporting individuals and families affected by mental health challenges.

This presentation is free and open to the public. RSVPs are appreciated and can be sent via our website at Sinsinawa.org/moundcenter in the “events” section or by calling 608-806-6087.
