Future Young Professionals Bring Inspirational Coach to Campus

On Tuesday, April 2, the Clarke University Future Young Professionals will welcome inspirational coach and speaker Kent Stock to campus. His lecture, “How do You Want to be Remembered?” will begin at 7 PM in Jansen Music Hall.

In 1990, Kent joined the Norway High School Baseball team, a powerhouse team that had brought home 19 state titles. When the school was set to close in 1991 and head coach Jim Van Scoyoc left for a position with the Detroit Tigers minor league team, Kent stepped in as head coach. Through an emotional roller coaster of a season, Kent led the Tigers to a 20th and final championship. In 2007, Kent’s story was adapted into the heartwarming film, The Final Season starring Sean Astin.

Now, Kent shares the powerful lessons of teamwork and determination he learned in that final year of coaching, as well as his experiences as a teacher and banker in a motivational speech that is sure to inspire.

This event is free for Clarke students and employees. Members of the public may purchase a $5 ticket at the door, with the proceeds going to support the Future Young Professionals club.
