Free Community Event on Spotting Substance Abuse in Tweens & Teens

Parents, caregivers, and community members are invited to a free educational event to learn how to spot substance abuse in tweens and teens. “Spotting Substance Abuse in Tweens & Teens” will take place on Monday, May 20 from 6 PM to 7 PM at Dubuque, Esports League, 3220 Dodge Street, Suite 109, Dubuque, IA 52003. This informative session will be led by Christina Mensinger-Skiles, BA, CPS with the Area Substance Abuse Council, a local expert on youth substance abuse. This event is being hosted by Dubuque Esports League.

During the event, attendees will learn:

  • The warning signs of substance abuse in teens and tweens
  • The different types of substances teens and tweens may abuse
  • How to talk to your child about substance abuse
  • Local resources available to help teens and families struggling with substance abuse

“Substance abuse is a serious issue that can impact teens and tweens from all walks of life,” says Christina Mensinger-Skiles from Area Substance Abuse Council. “This event is designed to equip parents and caregivers with the knowledge and resources they need to identify and address substance abuse in their children.” This event is free and open to the public.
