The Presentation Lantern Center has welcomed two new board members, Faye Finnegan and Craig Takes. Each new board member brings extensive nonprofit and leadership experience to their position on the board of the Presentation Lantern Center.
The Lantern Center serves adult immigrants who make Dubuque their home. Through one-on-one matches with volunteer tutors, the Lantern Center provides weekly English language and citizenship lessons to immigrants seeking to better their lives. Founded by the Sisters of the Presentation in 2002, the Lantern Center has served nearly 2,500 immigrants and helped 112 of these immigrants attain U.S. citizenship.
Finnegan has had a long career as a development professional with Loras College and the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque. She recently retired as director of donor relations at Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque. Previously, she was academic internship coordinator at Loras College, assistant vice president of institutional advancement and director of development at Loras College.
Takes worked in several roles for the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, DC, before founding and serving as president of Home Technology Systems, Inc., and Anciano Technology Systems, both of which developed and distributed technology to the senior living marketplace in North America and Europe. Craig has also been involved with Project Concern, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Sunnycrest Operational Board for Dubuque County.
The Lantern Center is always seeking volunteer tutors willing to meet weekly or substitute tutor with adult immigrants studying English and citizenship. We are also seeking conversation partners.
