Join us for an evening of French choral music as we present Music on the Mound: Choeur d’hommes de l’Auvignon from 6 to 7 PM Thursday, June 25 in St. Clara Chapel at Sinsinawa Mound Center. What began as a small group of friends from Montagnac-sur-Auvignon, a village in southwestern France, has grown into a remarkable men’s choir rooted in friendship, tradition, and the joy of singing together. The concert is free and open to the public and made possible by the Galena Agen Friendship City Committee, which is largely sponsoring Choeur d’hommes de l’Auvignon’s trip to the Midwest. Free-will donations are welcome and will help support the choir’s travel expenses.
Under the direction of passionate choir leader Sylvie Pénidon, the Chœur d’hommes de l’Auvignon brings to life the spirit of southwestern France through powerful harmonies, warmth, and camaraderie. Many of the singers were not formally trained before joining the ensemble, making their journey more inspiring. The choir’s rich cultural tradition will be showcased as they bring their heartfelt performance to the Midwest in an intimate and beautiful setting.
Sinsinawa Mound, an event center and Motherhouse of the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters in Wisconsin, is about five miles northeast of Dubuque, Ia., and 10 miles northwest of Galena, Ill. The new main entrance is located at the intersection of County Roads Z and ZZ. For more information visit Sinsinawa.org/moundcenter.
