Dubuque’s Q Casino is in the midst of a $75-80 million, multi-year renovation and expansion. When completed, the casino on city-owned Chaplain Schmitt Island will offer a renovated casino floor, a family entertainment zone, and a new boutique hotel and restaurant. The ambitious enhancement plans are sure to appeal to Dubuquers and visitors alike and will highlight Q Casino’s position as an anchor in the redevelopment efforts in the overall Schmitt Island Master Plan.
Q Casino, formerly known as Mystique and earlier as the Dubuque Greyhound Park and Casino, was last updated more than 15 years ago. Until recently, the current casino property also served as a greyhound racing venue. Now the dogs are gone, and the grandstand viewing area, kennels, and racetrack are vacant, leaving prime property in the casino and on Schmitt Island ready to be redeveloped for a new era of entertainment.
