University of Dubuque Launched Women in Aviation

University of Dubuque’s Charles C. Myers Library launched its digital collection, Women in Aviation at UD, on November 27 at Jubeck New World Brewing. Partially funded by a grant from the Council of Independent Colleges and the Mellon Foundation, Women in Aviation at UD is a digital collection of oral histories, photos, news clippings, a timeline, and an essay that provides a collective story about women in aviation. It can be viewed at bit.ly/WomenInAviationAtUD.

Over a dozen UD graduates who work in aviation occupations such as commercial pilot, corporate pilot, flight instructor, professor, mechanic, air traffic controller, and armed services were interviewed. Library staff led the year-long project with help from the Aviation Department and Women in Aviation student organization.

The project is part of DigitalUD, which is hosted by the Charles C. Myers Library and serves as a digital repository of select archival material and academic works created by faculty, students, and staff.
