The Dubuque Symphony Orchestra (DSO) has announced the return of its annual fundraiser, Pursuit of the Podium, inviting community members to support the orchestra while giving three local leaders a chance to take the conductor’s stand.
This year’s competition features Peg Hudson, Ed Raber and Mantea Schmid. Each contestant will raise funds on behalf of the DSO through April 2, 2026. The participant who collects the highest total will earn the opportunity to conduct one piece during the orchestra’s Summer Melodies concert June 28, 2026, at the Alliant Energy Amphitheater.
Profiles of the three contestants are available on the symphony’s website at Dubuquesymphony.org/special-events. Donations supporting a specific candidate can be made online or mailed to the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, 2728 Asbury Road, Suite 900, Dubuque, IA 52001. Donors are asked to indicate which contestant they are supporting.
The winner of Pursuit of the Podium and the total amount raised will be announced during the DSO’s performances of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony on April 18-19, 2026, at the University of Dubuque Heritage Center.
Funds generated from Pursuit of the Podium will support the DSO’s overall mission, which is to engage the tri-state community and enrich its quality of life through live musical performances and educational programs. Now in its 67th season, the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra serves more than 25,000 tri-state area residents each year and are proud to present world-class musical experiences for all ages to enjoy.
