Quad Cities Native Lands Tour – Saturday, Oct. 8 @ 10 AM-2 PM
Join us for a tour of several significant Indigenous sites in the Quad Cities. You will see Black Hawk State Historic Site, Antoine LeClaire’s home, the site of the 1832 Treaty signing, Ft. Armstrong and the site of the Dakota Prisoner of War Camp. Historian, Jane Simonsen, will lead this tour, and Jody Durnin will offer opening ceremony.
Canvas Painting: Pumpkins – Tuesday, Oct. 18 @ 6 PM-9 PM
Sarah Barnes will guide you step-by-step on how to paint on canvas. All supplies will be provided. This is an 11 x 14 canvas using mixed media like paint, paper and marker. Bring along your family and friends for an enjoyable and creative evening out!

Celebrate the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi while taking in the expansive beauty of the 80-acre prairie at Mount St. Francis. We will begin with an outdoor prayer service celebrating Francis’s deep love of creation. A lively discussion will focus on the Canticle of Creation prayer and how we can Care for our Common Home as we journey through the prairie.

This outdoor program will feature prayers and drumming around a circular fire pit. Our facilitator, Ms. Deb Stevens, who recently retired as a music teacher, has been drumming for over 30 years.

Join us for a guided singing bowl meditation. Participants will experience reduced stress and anxiety while increasing positive thinking. Discussion will be offered before and after the session.
Designing A Fidget/Sensory Quilts – Wednesday, Oct. 19 @ 1 PM-2:30 PM, Shalom Spirituality Center
Learn how quilts are made, who they benefit, and general considerations for creating a quilt. Quilts will be made using inexpensive materials (many of which you may have at home) and make your fidgets. Facilitator Kathy Glatz has several years’ experience making fidget quilts for various organizations. Her expertise will guide you in your quilt-making.
Fidget Quilt Sew-In – Thursday, Oct. 20 @ 9 PM-4 PM, Shalom Spirituality Center
Make a fidget quilt! Quilts include fabrics and items of various textures used to calm anxious minds. Completed quilts will be donated to local care centers or make a quilt for someone you know. All skill levels are welcome! We will be sewing quilt bases, making fidget items, and sewing fidget items onto quilt bases. Registrants will receive an email outlining a list of basic sewing supplies to bring and a list of things you may donate for the quilts.
