A grant award in the amount of $20,000 from the Dubuque Racing Association, Q Casino, and the Diamond Jo Casino will assist Hills & Dales in further supporting transportation needs within the organization’s four AutismHD program clinics in the area. The AutismHD clinics in Dubuque (2), Dyersville and Maquoketa provide Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for children ages 2 to 16 with an autism diagnosis.
Transportation is often a barrier to accessing this medically prescribed therapy for children with autism, due to working parent schedules or other instances. When public or familyprovided transportation is not available Hills & Dales has historically provided transportation to and from school or home as needed through staff member’s personal vehicles.
Funding from the DRA has allowed for the purchase of additional vehicles making this non-reimbursable service more financially sustainable for the AutismHD program and organization.
Since 1996, the Dubuque Racing Association has donated nearly $500,000 to Hills & Dales for various projects and needs. The organization is appreciative of the ongoing support the DRA has provided to assist in the mission to build meaningful lives for individuals with disabilities by offering services that support the whole person and enhance community inclusion.
