Dubuque County Fair: Bring on the Fun at Fair 71

It’s a summer tradition like no other: the Dubuque County Fair. Held this year from July 23 to July 28, the 71st annual event promises to provide the enticing mix of fair staples and new attractions that combine to create the “Best 6 Days of Summer.” Whether it’s the Y’s famous lemonade, the cattle auctions, or carnival rides, the fair offers that once-in-a-season entertainment that has allowed families to make memories for generations.

“The fair is about family, friends, 4-H, and the community,” said Kevin Kotz, general manager of the Dubuque County Fairgrounds and Event Center. “Its purpose never changes; what changes is how we entertain people.”

The fundamental fair components remain consistent: grandstand entertainment, attractions, 4-H livestock and creative arts exhibits, food vendors, carnival rides, and the exhibit hall, but each fair offers a different array in each category.
