Discover the impact of wetland restoration on Iowa’s indigenous wildlife. Amphibians, such as salamanders, frogs, and toads, are unique creatures – they begin their lives resembling fish and metamorphize into leg-bearing, semi-terrestrial creatures. Because amphibians inhabit diverse habitats, they serve as first indicators for the impact that human activity has on the environment. Join the Friends of the Dubuque County Conservation Board in welcoming guest speaker Dr. Paul E. Bartelt as he presents his research on the impact of wetland restoration on Iowa’s wildlife followed by a hands-on demonstration of radiotelemetry, a technique used to track, locate, and study amphibians and other animals. The presentation will be on Sunday, March 30 from 12:30 – 2:00 PM. Before this presentation, the Friends of Dubuque County Conservation Board will have a quick annual meeting at noon outlining their accomplishments and recognizing Prairie Farms as Business of the Year.
