Loras College Faculty and Staff present Twisted River of Temptation: Led by Lead into Sin in Sinsinawa, a comedic melodrama by alumni Kyle and Stephanie Klapatauskas, Wednesday & Thursday, August 28 & 29 at 7:30 PM.
In this comedic melodrama, ambitious and cunning villain Louis Button attempts to save his lead shot factory by seizing control of Julie Ann Dubois’ valuable mine… and her heart. Set in the riverside city of Dubuque, Iowa, the play intricately weaves a tale of power, deception and unlikely alliances. Full of Loras-spirited humor and wordplay! Will the nuns Sinsinawa keep Julie Ann safe? Will debaucherous drunkards of Dubuque stop the villainous Button? Will Officer Noble and Deputy Dan get their act together? Will Nathanial Goodfellow capture an elusive seat in the Catholic Traditions course?
The biennial Faculty/Staff Play is a popular, longstanding Loras College tradition. The productions raise money for the college’s Faculty-Staff Scholarship for students. Twisted River of Temptation: Led by Lead into Sin in Sinsinawa was originally produced by Loras faculty and staff in 2012, the first script of a trilogy by Kyle and Stephanie Klapataukas for their alma mater. The production is supported by the Loras Players, established in 1910, the oldest, continuously operating theatre troupe west of the Mississippi.
Twisted River of Temptation runs Wednesday & Thursday, August 28 & 29 at 7:30 p.m. in St. Joseph Auditorium, Hoffmann Hall on the Loras College campus. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $5 for students and $10 for non-students, cash, at the door. Proceeds benefit the Loras Faculty-Staff Scholarship.
