Experience a magical holiday show with John Denver Christmas, presented by the Dubuque Arts Council and sponsored by MidWestOne Private Wealth, at 7:30 PM Friday, December 13, 2024, in John and Alice Butler Hall, Heritage Center, University of Dubuque.
The music of John Denver is timeless and well-known. Layne Yost’s John Denver Christmas is a faithful tribute that pays homage to the music and the man.
Yost, Carol McDowall, and Jon Shimoda capture the simple soul of John Denver’s music through guitar, fiddle, and upright bass arrangements. Song selections include “Christmas for Cowboys,” “Christmas Like a Lullaby,” “Rocky Mountain High,” “Sunshine on my Shoulders,” “Leaving On a Jet Plane,” “Aspenglow,” “Annie’s Song,” and other greatest hits and Christmas favorites. Woven within the music are stories that give insight into John Denver’s life and legacy.
“Country roads look just as wonderful in the winter,” Yost said. “We loved playing for the wonderful folks at the Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens last year and can’t wait to return to Dubuque.”
Don’t miss this wonderful show that will take you back and remind you of simple things that remain true.
