The Dubuque Colleges Sustainability Coalition is excited to announce their third annual Climate Action Festival on Wednesday, April 8, on Alumni Common at the University of Dubuque. This free event runs from 4:30-6:30 PM and offers entertainment and environmental education for all ages.
Some of the featured activities include crafting native seed plugs led by volunteers from Clarke University, artistic expression through “heart-mapping” with Divine Word College, a small item repair station from The Dubuque Rescue Mission, and an upcycle station where local crafters will demonstrate how to breathe new life into recycled materials. Additionally, community organizations will highlight conservation, art, research, and resiliency efforts taking place across the region.
Attendees can also enjoy live music from Big Blue Sky. With a discography that spans folk, bluegrass, and reggae sounds, their music seeks a closer connection to the planet and to celebrate our natural heritage.
Students who present a school ID from any of the participating Dubuque Colleges Sustainability Coalition schools can also receive a walking taco, compliments of University of Dubuque Dining Services.
