Grab a travel buddy and join us at Sinsinawa Mound Center for a Khmer New Year Celebration as we take an armchair journey to Cambodia Wednesday, April 15 from 4 to 5:30 PM with tour guide Chelsea Middendorf. As outreach promoter at the Mound and a seven-year resident of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Chelsea will lead this interactive cultural experience, complete with Khmer New Year games, engaging stories, and a fresh spring roll class. Together, participants will explore Cambodia’s rich history by wandering through ancient temples and busy markets, discussing Cambodia’s vibrant art and music, and sampling local snacks and drinks such as rambutans, rice wine, and sugarcane juice. Chelsea will also discuss Southeast Asian farming practices and rural life and share insights about the resilience of a country rebuilding after genocide. The event is free and open to the public.
Chelsea is eager to welcome new faces while creating a fun and social atmosphere as she shares her passion for travel and for this special place that holds a piece of her heart. Reserve your seat online at Sinsinawa.org/moundcenter, via email at cmiddendorf@sinsinawa.org, or via phone at 608-806-6087.
