On Monday, January 15, 2024, Dubuque area citizens have the chance to attend the 32nd celebration of Dr. King’s life at the Grand River Center, 500 Bell Street, Dubuque, Iowa at 7:00 AM.
The annual breakfast will be hosted once again by faces&voices Cultural Celebrations and supported by the City of Dubuque, Dubuque Community Schools, and the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque. Tickets cost $25 for adults, $10 for youth (12 and under) and are available online.
This year, the message “Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Strength of Soul” will be presented by Ruth Haley Barton, author of Strengthening the Soul of Your Leadership and the President/CEO of the Transforming Center, Wheaton, IL. “The fight for justice takes courage, perseverance, and strength of soul. In our time together we will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King…and the powerful rhythms that shaped his vision and sustained him in the fight,” says Haley Barton.
Save your seat today and perhaps sponsor a friend or neighbor to attend with you. In addition to a great breakfast, you can show your support for the Dubuque community. As Coretta Scott King said, “The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members, a heart of grace and a soul generated by love.”
faces&voices Cultural Celebrations is a group of local people who believe that seeing the faces and hearing the voices of each citizen will unite us. We make Dubuque a strong and vibrant community that is inclusive, integrated, and welcoming, thereby attracting and retaining businesses and people of all backgrounds.
