Dubuque County Conservation Board Hosts Bioblitz at Swiss Valley Nature Preserve

The Dubuque County Conservation Board is excited to announce its inaugural Bioblitz event, taking place from June 16-20 at the Swiss Valley Nature Preserve. This community event invites participants of all ages to join as citizen scientists in recording biodiversity across the preserve.

Participants will use the free iNaturalist app to document as many species as possible, contributing valuable data to support education and land management decisions. Daily activities include guided identification sessions led by local experts, covering birds, fungi, insects, plants, and more. These sessions are free but require pre-registration due to limited space.

The Swiss Valley Nature Center will be open and staffed to assist with navigating the trails and identifying species. Observations can be shared on social media using the hashtag #SVNCBiodiversity.

For more information and to register for identification sessions, visit the Dubuque County Bioblitz webpage.
