The Julien Dubuque International Film Festival (JDIFF) is more than a week of screenings. The non-profit organization is dedicated to enriching the community and bridging cultures through education and promotion of arts through independent film. Activities occur throughout the year that lead up to the Festival itself in April.
To help raise funds, the organization has staged a murder…in the spirit of the movie Clue, of course. The Clue-Inspired Mystery Night, Saturday, February 8 will engage participants as characters from the movie, allowing them the opportunity to guess the murderer and weapon. Held at the Hotel Julien, the gala will feature exclusive trailers from the 2025 JDIFF Official Selection, a cash bar, dinner, a silent auction, and a live auction. Participants are encouraged to dress in the Clue theme at the event.
Last summer, the organization sponsored its first film camp for ages 14-18. During camp, participants filmed three vignettes at the Lacy Mansion to provide clues about the “murder.” The premier screening of this short film, What Happened to Brunch? will also be shown at the gala.
The live auction features impressive items including Skyscape Glamping for five in the Grand Canyon, a trip to Italy for two including hotel, flight stipend, and a day trip with a private driver; a two-night trip to New Orleans with a School of Cooking, and, appropriately, a murder mystery dinner for eight.
Registration and cocktail hour is 5-7 PM, followed by dinner and the live auction. Tickets are $135 per person or $950 for a table of 8. Patrons are encouraged to reserve seats early; however, advance tickets are not required. Tickets can be purchased at julienfilmfest.com/gala or JulienDubuqueFilmFest@gmail.com.
