
The Bell Tower Theater is excited to announce that their award-winning program Kids Take the Stage Youth Theater Classes will be continuing this fall. Kids from Kindergarten to 8th grade can immerse themselves in the wonderful world of theater in these weekly classes.
Artistic Director Sue Riedel, Artistic Associate Michelle Blanchard and guest teacher Heather Noethe will offer 5 different classes. Under their guidance, kids at all skill levels will learn and have fun.
Let’s Pretend Kindergarten & 1st Grade
Mondays 4 to 5 PM or 5:15 to 6:15 PM, October 6 to November 10, 2025
Take a trip to the wonderful world of make believe. This enchanting class uses kids’ imagination to bring stories to life while developing communication, self-expression and confidence. The goal is to have fun discovering the world of theater! Space is limited to 16 kids per class. Teachers: Sue Riedel & Don Brauhn Cost: $80
Creative Theatrics 2nd & 3rd Grades
Wednesdays from 4 to 5 PM or 5:15 to 6:15 PM, October 8 to November 12, 2025
Let’s hit the stage! This class uses beginning acting techniques and cultivates skills that help kids to be confident and comfortable on stage using stories and short plays as a foundation. Each day we will focus on creating believable characters using props, costumes, pantomime, and dialogue. Teachers: Sue Riedel & Don Brauhn. Cost: $80
Acting 4th, 5th, & 6th Grades
Thursdays from 4 to 5 PM or 5:15 to 6:15 PM, October 9 to November 13, 2025
Get into the act! Using improvisation, stage movement and pantomime, we will learn how to create believable characters while we practice speaking clearly, confidently and creatively. This class is great for beginners as well as experienced actors. Space is limited to 16 kids per class. Teachers: Sue Riedel & Don Brauhn. Cost: $80
Fractured Fairytales 4th, 5th, & 6th Grades
Tuesdays from 4:30 to 6 PM, October 7 to November 11, 2025
Have you ever thought fairy tales seemed a bit … boring? Ever wondered what would happen if Little Red Riding Hood found herself in Snow White’s story? Or what happens AFTER “happily ever after?” Have you ever wanted to write your own play? Then this is the class for you! Using your favorite fairy tales and their characters, we will explore whole new worlds by writing our own play and presenting it to our adoring public! Space is limited to 12 kids. Teacher: Michelle Blanchard. Cost: $95
Character Creation Through Improv! 6th, 7th, & 8th Grades
Fridays from 4:15 to 5:45 PM, October 10 to November 14, 2025
Get ready to dive into the exciting world of theatre where your imagination takes center stage! Learn to create captivating characters from scratch through fun and engaging improvisation. Discover how to build unique personalities, develop intriguing backstories and bring scenes to life, all while thinking on your feet and collaborating with classmates. It’s a dynamic, hands-on experience that builds confidence, fosters creativity and guarantees a blast on stage! Space is limited to 12 kids. Teacher: Heather Noethe. Cost: $95
Classes are held in the classroom and on the stage at the Bell Tower Theater, 2728 Asbury Road in Dubuque’s West End. Financial assistance scholarships are available for qualified families.
