On April 20, Clarke Fest is back on Clarke Drive for its fourth annual celebration. This free street festival is open to all and will take place from 4-7 PM on the Clarke University Atrium lawn.
Guests can enjoy family-friendly games and crafts, as well as free performances from Clarke Jazz & Melos, DJ Papi, and Toco Beach Steelpan. Some of Clarke’s fantastic student work will also be on display, from musical performances and artwork for sale, to the premiere of “The Eggscruciating Dinner: A Hare-Raising Murder Mystery,” an original play created and performed by Clarke students.
“Clarke Fest is a great way for people throughout Dubuque to come experience life at Clarke,” said Callie Clark, Dean of Student Engagement, and member of the Arts at Clarke Committee. “The Arts at Clarke, Clarke Activities Board, and Clarke Student Association are proud to work together and showcase the fantastic things happening on campus, while highlighting our connections to Dubuque and beyond.
Additional activities that day include a Blue & Gold Visit Day from 1-4 PM. This special event grants high school students and their families access to Clarke Fest, along with a campus tour, sessions with financial aid, and more. Prior to the kickoff of Clarke Fest, Professor of Art + Design Louise Kames will offer a free large-scale art demonstration to the public in the John & Jane Keifer Athletic Operations Center beginning at noon. Attendees are also welcome to cheer on the Men’s Lacrosse team, which hosts St. Ambrose at Burrows Field at 5:30 PM.
For those wishing to enjoy a meal during the event, some of the area’s favorite food trucks will be on site. Options include Hibachi Time, Adobos, Hangry Hobo, and Vesperman’s Ice Cream.
During Clarke Fest, a portion of Clarke Drive will be closed spanning from Mary Frances Clarke Hall to Terence Donaghoe Hall Theatre. All Clarke parking lots will remain open and will allow for free parking during the event.
