The City of Dubuque Housing and Community Development Department is proud to announce that Combination Inspector Shane Hoeper has earned the Master Code Professional (MCP) designation from the International Code Council (ICC).
The MCP designation is the highest level of certification awarded by the ICC and the “gold standard” for demonstrating proficiency in the code profession. It recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a mastery of the code profession through extensive education and experience, as well as a commitment to staying current with the latest industry standards and best practices.
In order to earn the Code Council MCP designation, Hoeper had to first pass 10 core ICC exams plus a number of elective Code Council exams to demonstrate his knowledge and proficiency in a variety of areas, including building codes and regulations, fire and life safety codes, and leadership and management skills. To maintain the MCP status, he must complete an additional 60 hours of continuing education units every three years. Worldwide, fewer than 1,000 code professionals have achieved the MCP designation.
