High School Teams Victorious at Loras College Sport Management Competition

Teams representing Dubuque Hempstead (IA), Mason City (IA), and Tremont (IL.) high schools all picked up victories at the inaugural Loras College sport management virtual sport management case study competition on Thursday, February 25.

The Loras College Sport Business Club sponsored the event, which featured a keynote address from American Rivers Conference (ARC) Chuck Yrigoyen and a case study on which sport the league should add next. Teams comprised of two to five high school students had 60 minutes to prepare a 10-minute presentation defending their selection. Judges included Loras athletic officials, alums working in the field, and current students.

Teams from across Illinois and Iowa were divided into three separate breakout rooms. Winning teams included the following students:

Dubuque Hempstead (IA): Emily Davidson, Rachel Garrett, Dalton Runde, and Nyal Upal.

Mason City (IA): Ben Amundson, Carter Gorder, and Tyler Wendel.
