There is no better way to support a teacher than to help fund items for their classrooms — and that is exactly what the Chandlee Family is doing through the Judi Chandlee Tribute to Teachers Endowed Fund.
The FDPS was able to open two grant cycles for teacher grants, received a record number of applications and awarded $19,548.15 in classroom grants to 54 teachers in 16 different buildings throughout the Dubuque Community School District (DCSD). These grants were created in memory of Judi Chandlee by her family and friends as a way to give back to our hard-working teachers. Chad Chandlee, Judi’s son, spoke at the Dubuque Community School District kickoff event thanking the staff for everything they do and the positive impact they have daily.
Here are a few of the comments that staff shared after being awarded a Judi Chandlee Tribute to Teacher grant:
These grants will impact thousands of students in the public schools. The gifts will provide much needed funding for supplies, equipment, and innovative educational experiences throughout the district.
DCSD Teachers were invited to submit classroom grant applications to the Foundation for Dubuque Public Schools. Requests were reviewed by a panel of board members, current and former educators, and community volunteers. The grants are funded by the family and friends of Judi Chandlee, a beloved Eisenhower Elementary Kindergarten teacher, who passed away in 2011.
