The Dubuque Regional Humane Society (DRHS) has been awarded an $8,774 grant from the BISSELL Pet Foundation towards lifesaving spay and neuter efforts. The DRHS provides critical medical and behavioral interventions and compassionate care for over 2,700 abandoned, lost, and unwanted companion animals annually. An integral part of the work the DRHS performs is promoting the spaying and neutering of all dogs and cats in our care as a proven methodology to increase an animal’s overall health and longevity while deterring the proliferation of unwanted animals.
The DRHS spay/neuter program, in partnership with support from the BISSELL Pet Foundation and community efforts, translates into enriching over 2,300 families with a new companion animal, reuniting over 260 lost pets with the people who love them, and achieving a save rate of 99%.
