The Guttenberg German Band has been making music together for over 35 years, playing traditional German, Austrian, and Swiss music. Based in Guttenberg along the Mississippi River in Northeast Iowa, the band started accompanying church polka Masses and helped inaugurate Guttenberg’s Germanfest in 1991. The band has grown to include people of all walks of life and musical experience, representing Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin and has toured twice in Europe. Members enjoy playing throughout the Midwest at Oktoberfest celebrations, German-themed events, nursing homes, and churches.
Sinsinawa Mound, an event center and Motherhouse of the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters in Wisconsin, is about five miles northeast of Dubuque, Iowa, and 10 miles northwest of Galena, Illinois. The new main entrance is located at the intersection of County Roads Z and ZZ. Visit Sinsinawa.org/moundcenter for more offerings.
