Sinsinawa Mound Center will host the discussion Indigenous History of the Driftless: What You Thought You Knew with Dr. Eugene Tesdahl from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Department of History and Social Sciences Tuesday, August 18 from 6 to 8 PM. Join Dr. Tesdahl for an evening dialogue about why the Indigenous history of the Driftless Region matters for everyone. Understand the importance of tribal sovereignty for nations including the Ho-Chunk, Sauki, Meskwaki, and Potawatomi. Consider the Treaty of Prairie du Chien, 1825 at 201 years. Dr. Tesdahl specializes in Indigenous histories, early American history, women’s history, and histories of gender and public history. He also serves as chair of the Department of History and Social Sciences. Recent publications address 19th-century black entrepreneurship, illegal slavery in Wisconsin, and Haudenosaunee cosmology. Gardening with his family in the Driftless brings him joy.
