Jazz Quartet to Perform at Sinsinawa Mound Center

Sinsinawa Mound Center will host Lamplight Jazz Quartet on two upcoming Saturdays, July 18 and August 29, at 2 PM in St. Clara Chapel. The group is comprised of four talented and accomplished teen musicians in the tri-state area. Spanning a repertoire from Nina Simone to Laufey, they not only keep jazz alive—they make it thrive. There is a suggested $10 donation at the door with all proceeds benefiting the young musicians. Refreshments will be served. RSVP online at Sinsinawa.org/moundcenter/events.

Macklan Murphy will be a senior at Galena High School (GHS) and is a drummer for Lamplight. He has been drumming for nine years and is part of the GHS Marching, Concert, and Jazz Bands. Liliana Asta is a singer and songwriter from Galena and vocalist for Lamplight. She has been involved with music her entire life and will continue St. Olaf College. Justin Lin is the pianist and junior in high school. He has performed with the Galena High School Jazz Band, the Dubuque Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the pit orchestra for the Grand Opera House’s Mamma Mia! Luna Pham is a senior at GHS. She plays bassoon with the GHS Concert Band and Tri-State Wind Symphony and has been selected to perform with the ILMEA All-State Orchestra, Loras College Honor Band, and UW–Platteville Honor Band.

Sinsinawa Mound, an event center and Motherhouse of the Sinsinawa Dominican Sisters in Wisconsin, is about five miles northeast of Dubuque, and 10 miles northwest of Galena. The main entrance is located at the intersection of County Roads Z and ZZ. For more information visit Sinsinawa.org/moundcenter or call 608-806-6087.
