Since Thanksgiving falls on a Thursday, I thought I’d also compose this on a Thursday – it just seemed right.
The charge to the Wine Crew this month was to visualize their favorite Thanksgiving dish, and to bring a wine that paired with it. Little did I know they would not only bring a wine, but they made the dish with which to serve it. Along with a Stone’s Throw Zinfandel, John and Miranda brought a Cornish hen and a tasty green bean casserole. Angela brought delicious wild rice and pecan-stuffed mushrooms and sweet potato stacks with rosemary to accompany her Austrian white.
We had an early feast, to say the least. A caveat: both wines were obtained outside our usual limits. The white was purchased in Fitchburg and the red in Door County. I am sure that most local wine retailers would be able to find an acceptable substitute if you inquire.
