The Dubuque County Board of Supervisors, acting on the petition of the Dubuque County Conservation Board, voted unanimously to ask voters to authorize the issuance of up to $40 million in bonds, with the proceeds to be used for outdoor recreation and conservation projects. The question will go on the Nov. 2 ballot.
Dubuque County Land and Water Legacy, a state-registered ballot issue committee formed earlier this year to support this referendum, applauds this action and will work to educate voters and achieve the necessary 60% approval across Dubuque County. It is their firm belief that the requested bonding authority would help showcase the natural beauty of our very special county, and add to the quality of life.
