On the heels of the organization announcing our Behind the Scenes Aquarium Tours, the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium is taking our mission to the great outdoors through Outdoor Adventures. Now available through reservation or gift certificate, River Museum education and conservation staff are providing guided outdoor experiences with seasoned and knowledgeable guides.
Key highlights of the Horseshoe Bluff guided hike include journeying through the 2-million-yearold limestone cliffs while searching for fossils and minerals, learning about the local flora and fauna, and exploring the lead mining and Native American histories of the area.
Key highlights of the E.B. Lyons guided hike include exploring the history of Pine Chapel and Lead Mines trails, which include the 1850s Pine Chapel structure, its wine and root cellar, and other features of the site. The experience will take guests through America’s State Tree Woodland Walk, created and planted by State Park Directors from all 50 states.
