President of MercyOne Eastern Iowa, Kay Takes, won the Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve (ESGR) patriot award, after being nominated for her commitment to supporting military and veteran colleagues. The award recognizes supervisors nominated by a Guardsman or Reservist employee for support provided directly to the nominator.

Iowa ESGR Director of Military Outreach, Rick Ernst, surprised Ms. Takes with the award and in response, Kay thanked ESGR for the recognition.

Ms. Takes also signed a commitment letter on behalf of MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center to the ESGR, a Department of Defense office, which promotes cooperation and understanding between reserve component service members and their civilian employers and to assist in the resolution of conflicts arising from an employee’s military commitment.
