MercyOne, one of the nation’s largest providers of valuebased care, announced today it delivered improved quality health care and $7.5 million in savings to Medicare for the 2020 Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) performance year. The program was designed by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to improve care for patients and populations, while making health care more affordable. MercyOne has participated in the MSSP program since 2012 and generated more than $50 million total Medicare savings. MercyOne’s Population Health Services Organization improved care outcomes for approximately 87,298 Medicare beneficiaries with an average quality score of 97%.
Formed in 1998, MercyOne has grown into one of Iowa’s leading providers of health care services. The system includes 18 owned or joint venture medical centers and hospital campuses, 25 affiliated medical centers, along with more than 420 care locations, all providing more than $95 million in community benefit through education, community health services, outreach programs and charity care.
