New Fund Commemorates The Life Of Sr. Helen Huewe

Opening Doors is excited to unveil a special tribute to Sr. Helen Huewe, one of the most influential forces in our organization’s 21-year history. Sr. Helen was a champion of the poor and underserved, which led her to help establish the Opening Doors nonprofit organization. Her tireless work continues to impact our community.

Sr. Helen’s passion for helping women and children touched many, including Joe and Linda Chlapaty. Her death inspired the Chlapatys to honor Sr. Helen and her legacy with an amazing gift of $100,000. Joe said, “Linda and I wanted to do something to recognize her efforts and hard work throughout the course of her life. We wanted to establish a fund in her name that will recognize in perpetuity the good work and good life Sr. Helen lived.” The Sr. Helen Huewe Hope & Healing Fund will allow us to elevate our services to the women and children we serve.
