Furthering its commitment to support Iowa’s veterans, the American Legion of Iowa has awarded a $2,000 grant to Clarke University to support scholarships to veteran students. The funds will support up to four student veterans during the 2021-2022 academic year.
Continuing education can play a critical role in helping veterans transition from military service to successful civilian lives and careers. However, with the average age of military veteran students at Clarke being 31, these individuals are often balancing family, career, and other responsibilities that traditional college students are not. By offering a scholarship, Clarke can relieve some of this pressure and allow these students to focus on their education.
