Dubuque Receives Financial Reporting Award for 32nd Consecutive Year

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada has awarded the City of Dubuque a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the City’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2019. This is the 32nd consecutive year the City of Dubuque has received this recognition.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. An Award of Financial Reporting Achievement was given to City of Dubuque Director of Finance and Budget Jennifer Larson to recognize her primary role in preparing the award-winning annual report.

The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and users’ groups to read the CAFR.

The GFOA is major professional association servicing the needs of nearly 19,000 appointed and elected local, state, and provincial-level government officials and other finance professionals. The association is headquartered in Chicago, with offices in Washington, D.C.
