Dubuque Main Street Announces “Open 4 Business” Competition

For the fifth consecutive year, Dubuque Main Street (DMS), in partnership with Main Street Iowa and the Iowa Economic Development Authority, will sponsor a competition for up to $28,500 to help fund business/entrepreneurial initiatives. To help business development efforts in Iowa’s Main Street communities, the OPEN 4 BUSINESS competition is a chance for Main Street communities, including Dubuque, to assist business innovation. This is an opportunity for a commercial venture to expand and grow a business idea within the DMS district.

Each applicant is required to complete a one-page summary/entry proposal of their new venture. Dubuque entries are due in the DMS office, 1069 Main St. by March 23, 2020. If chosen as a local finalist, a 15-minute “sales pitch” about their proposal will be given to a local panel of judges in late March at a date and time to be determined. These Shark Tank-like proposals may include a PowerPoint presentation, samples, and props. One business will be chosen and advance to the state competition.

For more information, contact Dan LoBianco at the DMS office, 1069 Main Street, (563) 588-4400 or dan@dubuquemainstreet.org.
