The City of Dubuque and the Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency (DMASWA) are co-sponsoring a household hazardous waste (HHW) collection. Materials will be accepted by appointment from Dubuque County residents. The event will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019, rain or shine, from 8:00 AM to noon at Murphy Park, Dubuque, Iowa. Residents can register for this event at DMASWA.org. Businesses are not permitted to participate.
Acceptable Items Include:
- Household cleaners
 - Motor Oil/Oil Filters
 - Old Gasoline
 - Residential Fertilizers/Pesticides
 - Aerosol Cans
 - Antifreeze
 - Household Fluorescent Bulbs
 - CFL’s
 - Mercury Bulbs
 - Halogen Bulbs
 - Sharps (In Rigid, Sealed Containers)
 - Rechargeable batteries
 - Ink/Toner cartridges
 - Oil Based Paint
 - Latex Paint
 
Materials Not Accepted
- Farm Chemicals
 - Business Chemicals/Waste
 - Ammunition/Explosives
 - Diethyl Ether
 - Ether
 - Picric Acid
 
Residents interested in participating should go to DMASWA.org or call 563.557.8220 ext. 2 to make an appointment by Friday, September 6. Items will not be accepted from schools, businesses, farms, non-profits, or governmental entities. Containers will not be returned to the resident and any container larger the 5-gallons will not be accepted during this event.
