Exploring the Parables of Jesus (Zoom) – Tuesday, Jul. 6 @ 9:30 AM-11 AM
Jesus was a master teacher and shared with his listeners many stories of God’s reign. Sister Mary Ellen Green, OP, will explore a few of these parables and how they relate to our lives today. She has served as teacher and administrator and on the leadership team for the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa. She has done retreat work throughout the United States as well as New Zealand, Australia, and France.

Summer Organ Concert guests will follow COVID-19 protocol, including wearing a mask, practicing social distancing and using hand sanitizer, and attendance will be limited to 125 people. Guests will have limited access to the main foyer and Queen of the Rosary Chapel. The concerts will also be available online at Sinsinawa.org/live.

Virtual Summer Organ Concert: Karen Black – Wednesday, Jul. 7 @ 7 PM-8 PM
Karen Black of Waverly, IA, is the Rudi Inselmann endowed professor of organ at Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa. She teaches organ and church music, music theory, and aural skills and serves as organist for weekday chapel and Sunday worship services. Black holds the Bachelor of Music in church music from St. Olaf College, the Master of Music in organ and church music from Indiana University, and the Doctor of Music in organ performance and literature from Indiana University.

Virtual Summer Organ Concert: Elisa Bickers – Wednesday, Jul. 14 @ 7 PM-8 PM
Elisa Williams Bickers is the principal organist and associate director of music at Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, Kan. She is active as a solo recitalist and collaborative organist and harpsichordist throughout the world, having performed in Germany, Italy, Ireland, Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Norway and Thailand. She holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in church music and organ performance from Texas Christian University and University of Kansas.

Virtual Summer Organ Concert: Charles Barland – Wednesday, Jul. 21 @ 7 PM-8 PM
Charles Barland is professor of music and university organist at University of Dubuque. He also is active in church and civic music in the Dubuque area. Barland has performed throughout the United States and in Germany, Northern Ireland, Scotland and England. Barland studied organ with Phyllis Stringham, Delbert Disselhorst, James Higdon, Delores Bruch and Michael Bauer.

Virtual Summer Organ Concert: Josh Ring – Wednesday, Jul. 28 @ 7 PM-8 PM
We welcome Josh Ring for his first organ concert of the series. He is professor of music at Olivet Nazarene University, Bourbonnaise, Ill., where he teaches organ, music theory, composition and piano. Ring is a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate for organ performance and pedagogy at the University of Iowa, where he also earned his Master of Arts in organ performance, studying with Gregory Hand.

While the Mound is closed to drop-in visitors, Sinsinawa Bakery remains open for online ordering at Sinsinawa.org/bakery and Sinsinawa Book & Gift Gallery is available for online purchases at Sinsinawa.org/giftgallery. Customers can also place orders by calling (608) 748-4411. Items can be shipped or customers can arrange for curbside pickup between 10 AM and 4 PM, Monday through Friday.

Faith Writers: Monthly Writer’s Group – Tuesday, Jul. 20 @ 6:30 PM-8 PM
Monthly writer’s group allows time to share up to two pages of writing with an opportunity for feedback and critique from other members.

Francis and Clare of Assisi: A Spirituality of Poverty and Joy – Friday-Sunday, Jul. 9-11
How can we live the contemplative life in the midst of busy lives? Finding a way to balance prayer and action is a challenge. Susan will present how the Franciscan way of life can be balanced and integrated in anyone’s way of life.
