“Being able to work with the soil, having a close connection with our children, our soil, [and] with the community, being grounded, [and having the] ability to home school our children” are some of the reasons Emily and Christopher Appelman love the business they have created on their small three acre farm south of Dubuque. More than a business, they have developed a lifestyle that not only suits them, but also benefits the land and local community.
