Dubuque sent many young men off to fight in World War II. One who answered the call to arms was Robert L. Martin, a young Black man who distinguished himself as a Tuskegee Airman. An application to name the terminal at the Dubuque Regional Airport the Robert L. Martin Terminal Building was approved in July 2020.
