Stonehill Franciscan Services stands as a hallmark in the community for its innovative, forward thinking, and dedicated service. The commitment to meeting the needs of the community continues today just as it has for 42 years. Anticipating the next need and preparing to meet it has been a long-standing mantra… one shared by the late Sr. Helen Huewe and current President and CEO Gretchen Brown.
Gretchen reports, “Stonehill prides itself on being able to anticipate future needs.” Stonehill has a history of success in doing just that. In 1978, the Stonehill Franciscan Services Health Center opened a licensed skilled nursing facility. Assisi Village, an independent living complex, opened in 1999. Stonehill added skilled nursing and rehabilitation therapy services and assisted living apartments in 2009 and a four-story addition that provides memory care, post-acute rehabilitation, and long-term care options that include palliative care and hospice services. A Wellness Center opened in 2013. Stonehill dedicated a new San Damiano Chapel in the Health Center in 2018. And this year, “the story continues” as plans for assisted living with memory care, a rapidly increasing need, come to fruition.
